Acer Plans For Smartphones And Tablet Push In China

After the passage of the Business Group Chief Touch back in April, Acer has decided to establish an office for its mobile products in China, to better exploit the country's growing smartphones and tablet on the market.

Acer has long been an animal in the Chinese PC market, but has yet to fully establish its presence as a smart phone or tablet manufacturer. As the PC maker in the third place, Acer has 9.2 percent of the PC market in China, while its smartphone share was too small to research firm Analysys to calculate. Former HP executive, Dave Chan, will take over Touch Business Group in China.

After a disappointing performance from the Acer tablet Iconia, Acer will need more than a new market to pick up the tablet business.
