Endosulfan Victim Dies Due To Alleged Medical Malpractice

Kasaragod: two and a half old girl who is suspected victim of the harmful effects of pesticides Endosulfan, died Thursday, presumably when they have not received timely medical treatment in government-run hospital in the region Kasaragod Kerala.

Prajitha was transported to General Hospital Kasaragod after complaining of shortness of breath.

Specializing in children was on leave, his parents said to take her to the doctor's clinic.

The doctor would have asked for 100 rupees and consulting fees, but instead to treat the child immediately, he asked parents to return to Prajitha govt hospital said it would soon be there.

Parents have waited nearly four hours, but the doctor did not attend.

"We gave the payment he asked the doctor. Then, the government has allowed the child to the hospital at 16.45. Pm till eight the doctor arrived. Shortly after he began vomiting blood," said Sasidharan, Prajitha father.

Prajitha as a condition worsened, her parents took her to a private hospital, but it was too late.

"Health has received a detailed report. We demand stern action. Such incidents should not recur in future," said P Karunakaran, MP Kasaragod.

The incident sparked widespread protests in Kasaragod, which saw nearly 400 deaths from endosulfan poisoning.

The protests forced the government to suspend the doctor, but that's little consolation to a mother whose son may have been inconsolable registered at the appropriate time if he had received medical attention.
