HP Recalls 162,000 Laptop Batteries

If you have a Hewlett-Packard laptop, you can check the model number HP has once again draw thousands of its lithium-ion batteries overheating, things that can cause breakage, fire and burns. These batteries are used in some HP and Compaq laptops.

The recall is not good news for HP, which has a similar history to its laptop batteries. HP recalls batteries from October 2008 to April 2006, October 2005, most recently in May and October 2009 and May 2010. The first recall in this same series as the current reminder came in May 2009 when 54,000 batteries have been recalled. The current recall is about three times that to 162,000 batteries. Since 2010-recall, which affected 70,000 batteries, HP has received 40 reports of batteries overheating more.

The computers in question were sold from July 2007 to July 2008. You can check if you have a faulty battery recall notice by checking the Consumer Product Safety Commission. If you do not have the defective unit, please take the battery and contact HP, which will replace the battery free of charge. If you think you may be included in the previous recall and no, you should check your computer. HP says that about 5 percent of all batteries sold in the period July 2007 to July 2008 seemed to be.

Recalling the products is not unusual. Garmin has recalled 1.25 million units last year nuvi overheating batteries, and Sony has recalled 535,000 Vaio laptops also have overheating problems last year. The question is how these faulty batteries in nature? I think that companies should be the first to try to ensure there are no problems of overheating resulting in an explosion of batteries in a fire and physical damage.
